Awkward

Jason Browne aka (Jwii)  was Born in Compton, CA. He grew up idolizing Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smalls, Big L, Jadakiss, T.I. and Nas. At age 14 Jwii met his best friend Reginald Burson and together they embarked on a musical journey in the dangerous streets of Compton. when Jason was 17 his mother passed which then sent him through a world wind of different trials and tribulations. After the death of his mother Jwii was forced to live with numerous people for months until he settled down at his grandparents house who's health was decreasing. While working a full time job and taking care of his sick grandfather Jwii still found the time to grow with music.

 

In the year 2003 H.O.T.T.A known as (Hated On Time & Time Again) was born to the founders of Jason aka Jwii, Reginald aka iggie and Glen aka G-Mack. Together they started recording there album titled H.O.T.T.A SQUAD and soon after performed as opening act for Def Jam recording artist Rah Digga and hip hop icon Special Ed in 2007. Jwii then suffered another loss when his best friend Reginald "Iggie" Burson was shot and killed at a gas station in Compton, CA. Followed by the death of his best friend was the death of his grandfather Joel whom to the young rap artist was his mentor and life teacher. Jwii has reached many different stages of life.

 

At age twenty the young rapper was a successful store manager for one of the worlds largest grocery store in the country for 5 years before he made a conscious decision to dedicate himself to his music. The artist makes music to touch the lives of those who have been though similar situations such as himself. He often says "If you can't reach people through your art… there is no point." Jwii has always worked hard to support his children and maintain a family life as well as putting out good music.

 

Jwii has the sound of an East Coast Rapper, but has the soul of the West Coast Rapper. Jwii has a sound similar to Q-tip and Wayne's earlier work. My opinion is that  this is going to be one of the most noteworthy artists in hip hop to come.
